Django à la Créole Invites Jon-Erik Kellso
Wednesday, July 20 (7:30pm) in the Spiegeltent Django à la Créole wraps up a light summer season at one of my favorite international festivals. This year, we're going to heat up the Spiegeltent, one of the coolest performance venues. It's a mobile theater built in the 1920s with decadent Art Nouveau accents. This show will immediately follow a concert in Yorkshire for a return to the Hull Jazz Festival, and will feature one of my favorite trumpet men, Jon-Erik Kellso, who killed it on Clarinet Road's showcase at Jazz Fest. Celebrating Django's historic meeting with Ellingtonians, Barney Bigard and Rex Stewart, I've added some fun material for this year.
